The sleepy Village of Matelot is a place where you can get away from the busy city life and relax in a tranquil atmosphere surrounded by stunning beaches, rivers and waterfalls. Located at the end of the Toco /Paria Main Road, this is the last village on Trinidad's North-Eastern Coast. Matelot is a French word that translate sailor and before roads constructed the area occupied mainly by sea-men. The village population is about six hundred and the main sources of income, comes from fishing, agriculture and some eco-tourism.
