Angel Falls from Maracas St Joseph on Saturday 5th August 2017 (one-way)
The one-way trek from Maracas St Joseph to Angel Falls will take two and half hours and starts at Hobal Trace. The walk up the steep concrete road leads to a WASA Pump where a trail on the right ascends to the crest. Along the way, the track passes through estate cocoa land and before the construction of the North Coast Road this was a popular route to transport agricultural produce from Maracas and Las Cuevas. At the top of the watershed (579m), there is a landmark Iron Cross where once lived a hermit woman named Sister Beatrice. Several trails lead to various destinations and visible in the distance is the Las Cuevas Valley. From the crest, the trail descends north-easterly and then diverts to the right along a hidden pathway to the entrance to the falls. On the return a downhill walk that ends at Zorro Trace on the North Coast Road. There is the option to explore some of the many waterfalls located in the valley along the river’s channel.
