Angel Falls’16 from Zorro Rd

Scheduled Date: Sunday 5th February, 2017

Concealed on the North Coast Road between Maracas and Las Cuevas Bay’s, a stunning waterfall is Angel Falls. Located higher up the mountains in Zorro Trace, the river source comes from the Northern foothills of the Mt.El Tucuche Watershed. Along the river channel there are several other impressive cascades created by the precipitous terrain. Angel Falls situated at the top of a gorge flows over a steep escarpment and drops vertically from a height of 30 feet into a cozy basin. It’s celestial appearance and exquisite gracefulness invokes a feeling of excitement and adventure. One can sit under the water-drop for an invigorating massage or plunge into the pool for an energizing refresher. Further downstream is an explorers delight with breath taking gorges and pools.

The expedition to Angel Fall’s starts from Zorro Trace and will take an hour. The walk begins alongside the river and steeply ascends the main ridge into a secluded valley. The trail crosses over a small hill and then descends into the canyon. During the months of January to February distinct in the forest is the blossom of the immortelle tree (Erythrina poeppigiana) with its radiant orange flowers. This signifies the start of the dry season. Other noticeable flowers are the Mountain Rose {Brownea Coccinea} and wild coffee {Psychotria Punctata}. The river is essential to the residents at Zorro Trace it supplies water for their crops and used for drinking.
