An exciting place to explore is the Rincón Valley located 2 km from the Las Cuevas Beach Facility on the Maracas North Coast Road. Rincón is a Spanish word that means in a corner and buried within its landscape there are several waterfalls. The source of the river originates from the northern foothills of the El Tucuche Watershed, and two spectacular waterfalls are the Habio and Rincón Falls. Further downstream the river plunges over several escarpments where to discover are a series of pools. The Rincón Basins placed in an undisclosed location and known mainly to villagers as their secret place to bath. The river situated in the western part of the valley, it’s magnificence concealed. The magic of nature comes alive with the high level of endemism of its flora and fauna.
The expedition to the Rincón Basin is an easy 30-minute trek. There is the option to venture further upstream and come down the river for an amasing thrill. Others can spend the time relaxing at the basins and jumping into the pools. The Rincón Basin is an extraordinary destination filled with mystery and incredible adventure.
