Yarra Beach evening hike on Saturday 20th May 2017
A peaceful place to enjoy a refreshing evening stroll is at the Yarra’s Beach River Mouth. This picturesque seascape hypnotized by the serenity of the river and situated on the North Coast in a concealed location. Along the beach, rays of light shining through the coconut branches create breath-taking silhouettes. It is a night for adventure, turtles coming ashore to nest and crabs captivated by the bright light. The water at the river mouth is calm, shallow and provides a safe place for a late evening splash.
The Yarra River acts as a boundary dividing the villages of Blanchisseuse and La Fillette. Yarra is an Amerindian word when translated means “ever flowing. The walk to the beach will take thirty minutes and starts at the Blanchisseuse School to the centre of the community where a village track leads to the beach. A short walk along the coast leads to the river’s mouth.
Please note that the tide may be high and recommended is an extra change of clothing and footwear.
