Scheduled Date: Tuesday 24th July, 2018
The Yarra River acts as a boundary dividing the villages of Blanchisseuse and La Fillette. Yarra is an Amerindian word when translated means “ever flowing. The river mouth located in a concealed location is one of the most mind-blowing places to visit. It is a peaceful place to relax and enjoy an evening stroll. The picturesque seascape together with the serenity of the river is indeed hypnotizing. Along the beach, the rays of light shining through the coconut branches create breath-taking silhouettes. Oh! What a night for adventure, as turtles come ashore to nest and crabs become captivated by the moonlight. The river has lost its energy, and the waters at its mouth are calm and shallow providing a safe place for an evening splash.
The walk 30-minutes walk to the beach starts from the Blanchisseuse School to the center of the community where a village track leads to the beach. A short walk along the coast leads to the river’s mouth.
Please note that the tide may be high and recommended is an extra change of clothing and footwear.
