Trail Rules

Safety Guidelines

Follow these rules on every hike to keep yourself and the group safe.

01
Always hike with the group. Never leave the trail or go off-path alone. Stay within sight of the guide at all times.
02
Disclose medical conditions. Inform the guide of any health issues, medications, or allergies before the hike begins.
03
Bring sufficient water. Minimum 2 litres per person. Dehydration is the #1 cause of hike incidents.
04
Wear proper footwear. Hiking boots or trail shoes required. No sandals, slippers, or open-toe shoes.
05
Leave no trace. Pack out all rubbish. No littering on trails, at waterfalls, or on beaches.
06
Follow the guide's instructions. During river crossings, steep descents, and technical sections the guide's word is final.
07
Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
08
If injured โ€” stop and call out. Do not try to push through. Alert the guide immediately.
09
Stay hydrated and apply sunscreen regularly, especially on coastal trails and open ridges.
10
Pregnant hikers should consult a doctor before participating in any hike rated Moderate or above.

Weather Policy

Island Hikers monitors weather conditions closely. If a hike is cancelled due to severe weather (tropical storms, heavy flooding), we will announce on WhatsApp and social media by 5:00 AM on the day of the hike.

Light rain does NOT cancel hikes โ€” we hike rain or shine! Bring a waterproof jacket and embrace the adventure. A little mud is part of the experience.

In the event of an active tropical weather system (tropical storm or hurricane warning), all hikes are automatically cancelled and will be rescheduled.
